About The Dunedin Country Club | Dunedin Real Estate

November 11, 2021 By Deborah Ward

The Dunedin Golf Club, formerly the Dunedin Country Club, is an amazing place to play a round of golf or just relax in the clubhouse. Don’t forget that it’s a great place to hold your next event too!

A challenging course

The Dunedin Golf Club originally opened in 1927. It was designed by Donald Ross, a world About The Dunedin Country Club | Dunedin Real Estaterenowned golf course architect. Ross provided a challenging course for the experienced golfer, but not one that is too difficult for beginners. The course was challenging enough that from 1945 through 1962 18 Senior Tour Championships were played there. Some of the best of the best have played there from Ben Hogan to Sam Snead to even the great Babe Zaharias!

Renovated and restored

In 2006 the club and course was renovated and restored. The greens, tees and bunkers were restored to what Ross originally drew up. Facilities were brought up to date and made gorgeous, serene and relaxing for after that challenging game. Even today’s greats love to play there.

Great tour players

Tommy Aaron, Mark Calcavecchia, John Daly, John Huston, Brittney Lincicome, Ben Crenshaw and many other great tour players have all played the course at the Dunedin Golf Club.

A great place to relax

After your game, the Clubhouse offers a great place to relax and have a fantastic meal, whether at The Fairway Grille, Dunedin Room or Ballroom. The Ballroom has an 800 square foot dance floor, full service bar and patio that overlooks the 13th hole.

You can host banquets, weddings or your next business event there

If your event is smaller, there are smaller rooms available. The Boardroom is available for meetings and conferences or small intimate dining. The Georgia McDermott Room is available for meetings or banquets or small private parties.

A History of Dunedin Florida

November 11, 2021 By Deborah Ward

Dunedin, Florida, like it’s neighboring towns and cities, has an interesting and ethnic history. The earliest inhabitants, like the surrounding territory, were native Americans. It was the later settlers that set the tone for today.

Gaelic name for Edinburgh

A History of Dunedin FloridaIn the 1800’s Scottish families settled the area. The name of the town, Dunedin, is also the Gaelic name for Edinburgh (Dùn Èideann) Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland. Two Scotsmen, J.O. Douglas and James Summerville, named the settlement. Douglas, Summerville and others brought their Scottish customs to the area.

One of the earliest settlers was John W. Marston

Marston was a carpenter and citrus farmer. He provided jobs for other settlers who came to the area. Dunedin is the oldest town south of Cedar Key, Florida. It became one of Florida’s chief seaports and trading centers because it had the space to accommodate larger sailing vessels.

Incorporated

Dunedin was incorporated as a town in 1899. Residents demanded it due to pigs that were constantly running through town. In order to ban livestock from the town it had to be incorporated as such. In 1913 it became a city.

By the 1940’s Dunedin had become known for the Roebling Alligator

Just before and during World War II, the Food Machinery Corporation had a factory in Dunedin. The factory was the site where the Landing Vehicle Tracked was developed by Donald Roebling and others from Roebling’s alligator. The LTV was used in WWII and training on them was done at the factory.

During that time the school and its students were housed in the Hotel Dunedin. This continued until 1944 when the program was transferred to Camp Pendleton in San Diego, California.
Today Dunedin is a great area to live and visit. It still celebrates it’s Scottish heritage and history.

Come on by and see for yourself.

Dunedin Florida Real Estate – Take a Tour with Deb

October 27, 2021 By Deborah Ward

Dunedin, Florida is a great place to live. Whether you are looking for business real estate or for your home, it is a cozy town with amazing character.

You can take a quick tour with Deb:

Here is also some cool information that can help you choose Dunedin.

Dunedin is located close to Clearwater Beach, in Pinellas County, Florida. Dunedin’s name comes from the Gaelic pronunciation of Edinburgh, Scotland – NOT Dune-din but Dun-edin.

Its heritage is from its early Scottish inhabitants. It has a sister city in Scotland called Stirling. Dunedin honors its Scottish roots yearly with its annual Dunedin Highland Games. Dunedin High School and Dunedin Highland Middle School each have competition-level pipe and drum bands, and the high school marching band is called the Scottish Highlander Band. The city itself has its own pipe and drum corps, made up of teens and adults.

Dunedin Florida Real Estate - Take a Tour with DebIf you like the beach, Dunedin has plenty to offer. The Dunedin Causeway, Honeymoon Island, and Caladesi Island State Park, are rated among the best beaches in the world. Dunedin has gone the extra mile to protect the views of its amazing waterfront. In attention to keeping things simple and not take away from the beauty of the nature around Dunedin, the downtown business district has kept large commercial signage absent.

If you wanted to do something other than lay on the gorgeous beaches, there is golf and hiking or biking. The Dunedin Country Club golf course is a semi-private golf club that has memberships, but is also open to the public. If you like biking, walking or hiking, the Pinellas Trail runs right through downtown Dunedin. It’s, a 39-mile-long bicycle and pedestrian trail that runs through Pinellas County.

Sports are big here too. The Toronto Blue Jays hold spring training here, and it is home to the class-A Dunedin Blue Jays of the Florida State League.

Dunedin is also full of whatever size home you may need. From small bungalows to large, roomy homes, you’ll fine whatever your heart desires.

How Home Sellers Shoot Themselves in the Foot with Bad Pricing!

October 27, 2021 By Tara Jacobsen

Home sellers in Clearwater, Dunedin or St. Pete, who are selling homes need to make sure they don’t shoot themselves in the foot by pricing their homes wrong!

As a homeowner, going with what you think its worth, versus actually finding out what it is worth can make the difference between selling your home quickly and having it languish on the market. Pricing it even $5,000 to $10,000 too high and it will sit. Pricing it right the first time will assure a sale.

How Home Sellers Shoot Themselves in the Foot with Bad Pricing! One of the biggest mistakes home sellers make when pricing their home wrong is thinking that the home is worth more than it is. The market has changed much in the last several years including in Clearwater, Dunedin and St. Pete and even if you adjusted your thinking from before the housing bubble burst, you still probably inflate the value. Maybe your neighbor just got a great price for their home and you know yours is just as good, if not better. But is it? Do you have the high end finishes that they do? Is your bath or kitchen showing some wear?

Ok, you’re thinking, I can always come down if I’m pricing it too high. Bad idea, for a few reasons. First, when buyers look for a home they choose a price range from the highest their budget will allow to the lowest price that represents the quality of home they want. No matter if they search the internet first or just contact a Clearwater Dunedin or St. Pete realtor to assist them, if the home is slightly overpriced, it won’t show up in the buyers price range. What that means is the buyers who can buy your home won’t even see it. Second, the market for a newly listed home is the most active in the first 30 days. You won’t be willing to drop your price for at least 90, meaning you miss the hot selling period.

So contact a great realtor, and ask her to come and evaluate your home, list it right the first time and laugh all the way to the bank! Give us a call today to for a free in-home market analysis 727-410-0336
